Final thoughts

I really enjoyed taking the time to learn about everyone's projects. I was disappointed that my podcasting tool was not working and in fact my entire pageflakes site is now blocked from the Hajjar. It all works fine from home, which is the most important. Thanks to a great instructor! I can't wait to keep learning and do all of the things I might have only brushed upon in class at home! Class project

Ok, I haven't actually done this week's assignment as I have been wrapped up in figuring out how to put together my project. Here's my class web site Cool stuff. I was playing around with PodBean quite a bit. I think I like embedding the podcasts individually compared with the entire player. It looks like you can only have 4 podcasts on the player at one time.

embedded podcast

This was my original attempt at podcasting. The embedded player is not working because I needed to cancel my subscription and went with podomatic

podcasting too

http://feeds2.feedburner.com/PodictionaryWeekly This is another good podcast. I like all of the vocabulary podcasts I have come across. I think I gave up posting them on my blog and started to put my bookmarks on Podbean instead. So many to choose from. I will definitely use some of these podcasts for my class web site, which likely will be a combination of tools. I will need to make sure parents know that these web sites and podcasts need to be checked out before the kids can freely use them, like a newspaper, you can subscribe to one but you never know what the news is going to be. Back to the vocabulary podcasts. Terrific use for a variety of students as the pronunciation is there for you. I think I need to do my own for the vocabulary units in 3-5th grade as most of my kids need the extra modality.

Podcasting!

http://speechclass.podbean.com/ This is my first podcast! I can see this as a great tool for my students and parents when faced with speech practice at home when Mom and Dad didn't go to speech class with their child. My first podcast is about improving articulatory precision. This is for those kids who are difficult to understand in connected speech but seem ok when they say one word at a time. Stay tuned for more!
This looks like an interesting podcast show!http://feeds.feedburner.com/JustVocabulary Here's another interesting podcast feed.http://wordsmithie.wordpress.com/feed/

Delicious, social bookmarking

http://delicious.com/mrsgb This is my delicious list. I found this bookmarking site much more helpful than a basic google search. The reason being that I found much more relevant sites for speech pathology here than anywhere else, including several class web sites by SLP's! I think this bookmarking device would be helpful for students, for activity pages and for parents for general information regarding speech and language delays and development.

Document sharing

Document sharing for my uses the in the classroom would most likely involve carryover activities for maintaining good speech skills at home. I could envision a parent-child collaboration, as usually this is needed for speech correction, to complete assignments on line.

I also can see this as helpful professionally across disciplines for generation of group documents involving policy etc.

My experience this week was with a task my team needed to be more efficient at doing. This began as a concept of sharing a document for updating team meetings and actually through this process we realized this was not the best tool. All was not lost, I learned how to use the calendar system much more efficiently. Now for tracking thoses consent forms........
